Met Office Yellow Fog Warning for Remembrance Sunday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for dense fog across much of England overnight into Remembrance Sunday, with visibility expected to fall below 50 metres in places.
The warning runs from midnight on Saturday until 10am on Sunday, 8 November. It covers the East Midlands, London and the South East, the South West and the West Midlands, stretching as far north as Stoke-on-Trent and as far east as Brighton.
Thirty-three areas are named in the warning, including Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire; Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands conurbation; and a long list of southern counties from Hampshire and Surrey to Devon, Somerset, Bristol and Wiltshire.
A Met Office spokesperson said patchy, dense fog was expected to develop during Saturday night, becoming increasingly widespread through the second half of the night before only slowly clearing on Sunday morning. The West Country and central southern England are expected to be the slowest to clear.
Travellers face slower journey times, with delays to bus and train services possible and a chance of delays or cancellations to flights. Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan said fog featured heavily in the forecast through the weekend and into next week, with mist and fog readily re-forming overnight, particularly across the Midlands and central and southern England.
The fog is expected to lift after 10am on Sunday, revealing a brighter spell in many areas than in recent days. Motorists are advised to use fog lights, check road conditions before setting out and allow extra time for journeys, particularly for those travelling to Remembrance Sunday services.
