Mohun Bagan Super Giant came from behind to beat Punjab FC 2-1 in the Indian Super League in Kolkata on Saturday, moving to the top of the ISL 2026-27 standings.

Punjab took an early lead at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium, with Alfred Planas scoring in the third minute after Sanathoi Meetei set him up outside the penalty area. Mohun Bagan suffered an early forced change when Sahal Abdul Samad limped off and Anirudh Thapa came on, and Thapa helped spark the move that led to the equaliser.

Erwin and Drazic turn it around

Lee Erwin restored parity in the 18th minute, finishing with his left foot after being set up by Thapa on the left side of the box. Mohun Bagan went ahead in the 42nd minute when Erwin turned provider, laying the ball off for Dejan Drazic outside the box, whose right-footed effort found the bottom-left corner to make it 2-1.

Mohun Bagan held on through eight minutes of added time to claim all three points. The win took them to nine points from four matches at the top of the table, while Punjab remained on seven points from four matches. Positions remain provisional this early in the season, but for the former champions, a comeback win in front of their home crowd was a strong statement.
