NADRA Deputy Assistant Director Shot Dead Near Office in Peshawar

A deputy assistant director of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was shot dead near the authority's office in Peshawar on Friday. Police identified the victim as Fahad and said unidentified assailants opened fire on him as he walked to work.
Attack near the Hayatabad office
The attack took place near the NADRA office in Phase 5 of Hayatabad, within the area covered by Hayatabad police station. Fahad had parked his vehicle and was walking towards the office when the gunmen opened fire. He died at the scene.
Eight shells recovered
Police said eight empty shells from a .30-bore pistol were recovered from the scene and sent for forensic examination. Officers cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence, and police are examining CCTV footage from the office parking area to identify the attackers.
Motive not yet established
No suspects have been named and no arrests have been reported. Police said the attacker's identity and motive were still being investigated, and early evidence suggested the shooting may have stemmed from personal enmity, though that has not been established. Investigators are also considering whether it was a targeted killing.
Attacks on officials in the province
The killing comes amid recurring attacks on government employees and law enforcement staff in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Days earlier, Assistant Commissioner Mansehra Adil Wasim was injured when unidentified attackers opened fire on an official vehicle in Nowshera. Police said he was travelling to Peshawar at the time.
