Pakistan, Sudan Sign Visa-Free Pact for Diplomats

** Pakistan and Sudan have signed an agreement allowing holders of diplomatic and official passports to travel between the two countries without visas. The pact was signed in Islamabad on Saturday, 7 November, by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Sudanese counterpart, Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali. The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in security, cybercrime, police training and other sectors.
Under the arrangement, citizens of either country carrying a valid diplomatic or official passport will be exempt from visa requirements when travelling to the other country. The agreement does not cover ordinary passport holders, who must continue to follow the usual visa rules. Officials said the move is intended to make official travel easier and to support government delegations and exchanges between the two countries.
Wider cooperation agreed
The meeting between the two interior ministers went beyond travel. The two sides discussed closer cooperation in security, cybercrime and police training, reflecting a broader effort to deepen the bilateral relationship. No implementation timeline for the visa arrangement was immediately announced.
Relief for Sudanese families in Pakistan
Naqvi also directed the relevant authorities to address visa-related difficulties faced by Sudanese women married to Pakistani nationals, including those currently living in Pakistan. The directive was reported alongside the signing and signals that the agreement is part of a wider effort to ease people-to-people contact.
