Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker for its newly integrated Community Vaccination Service, based at Kings Park Hospital in Bournemouth. The post is permanent and part-time, worked on term-time hours, and the official NHS Jobs listing gives a closing date of 2 November 2026 — so applications must be submitted promptly.

What the role involves

The successful applicant will help deliver the school-age vaccination programme alongside Covid vaccination for housebound patients and care-home residents. Day-to-day work includes administering selected vaccines in schools, community clinics, care homes and patients' homes, collecting vaccines and equipment from vaccine bases, and supporting health promotion and community engagement. The role also includes delegated administration tasks identified by the admin lead, such as running reports, liaising with schools and service users, and collecting data.

Pay, requirements and checks

The post is Band 3 under Agenda for Change, paid at £25,760 to £27,476 a year, pro rata. Applicants need experience equivalent to a vocational level 3 qualification, excellent communication skills, good IT skills, and the ability to work on their own initiative while taking part in clinical supervision. Travel using their own vehicle on Trust business is also required, as much of the work is community-based. Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, which the Trust says it will cover, and the listing states visa sponsorship is unfortunately not available, so applicants must already hold valid right to work in the UK.

How to apply

Candidates should apply through the official NHS Jobs listing, quoting reference 152-C201.26A, and make sure their supporting statement reflects the job description and person specification. The Trust also offers an employability service for people who would value help with application writing or interview skills. With the deadline falling on 2 November, anyone interested should not leave the application until the final day, in case the vacancy closes early.
