No.10 North hiring drive opens in Manchester

The Cabinet Office has launched a hiring drive for a range of roles at No.10 North, the prime minister's Downing Street outpost in Manchester, Civil Service World reports. As of yesterday, some 20 jobs were being advertised in the current tranche, spanning deputy-director positions down to apprenticeships, with applications open until 12 or 13 November depending on the specific role.

The senior roles

Most senior among the current tranche is a deputy director position with responsibility for the Rewiring the State devolution initiative, and a deputy director role with responsibility for strategy and project management, each offering a salary of up to 117,800 pounds. The Rewiring the State deputy director is a Senior Civil Service Pay Band 1 post, advertised on the official Civil Service Jobs portal, leading the Rewiring the State Unit for the prime minister and first secretary of state and shaping the Government's approach to devolution across departments, working with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and HM Treasury. The salary band for the role is 86,000 to 117,800 pounds.

The wider drive

At the lower end of the scale, the Cabinet Office is advertising an engagement support officer apprenticeship at No.10 North on a salary of up to 32,622 pounds, and a diary manager post in the same pay range, Civil Service World reports. BBC reporting from 30 October put the wider recruitment drive at 50 external adverts, with all positions based in Manchester and open to applicants from outside the Civil Service as well as existing government employees, covering policy, delivery, engagement and operational roles. The current tranche can be found by searching No.10 North on the Civil Service Jobs website, and applicants should check the live advert for the exact closing date, eligibility and location for the role they want, as departments can change adverts. No fee is charged to apply through the official portal, and any listing asking for payment should be treated as suspect.
