Ofcom Apprenticeships Open 9 November — Apply by 18 December

Ofcom will open applications for its apprenticeship programmes on Monday 9 November, the regulator confirms on its careers site. Applications close on Friday 18 December 2026, and Ofcom advises candidates to apply early and allow enough time for every stage of the process.

The programmes start in September each year, with the exact start date confirmed to successful candidates before they join. Ofcom offers apprenticeships at levels 3 to 6, with the level and qualification depending on the role. Roles may be available at different Ofcom locations, and each job description will set out its location.

What the application involves

The process begins with an online application, followed by an online assessment. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a future talent discovery day, which includes a short assessment activity and a chance to learn about the role and team, and then to an assessment centre, usually held in person at one of Ofcom's offices during the spring.

Ofcom says its apprenticeships are open to school and college leavers and to career changers, and that a previous qualification does not automatically rule a candidate out — although funding rules require the programme to develop substantial new knowledge, skills and behaviours beyond those already covered.

Training and working pattern

Training and qualification costs are fully funded by Ofcom and delivered by a specialist training provider. Apprentices spend 20 per cent of their working time on off-the-job learning, which can include workshops, mentoring, study time and training linked to the apprenticeship. Ofcom supports hybrid working and asks early careers colleagues to attend the office at least two days a week.

Candidates should check the vacancies page on the Ofcom careers site from 9 November for the latest opportunities, deadlines and programme dates.
