Pakistan has cut petrol and diesel prices for the third time in four days, with the new rates taking effect from Thursday 5 November 2026. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced the revision in a notification issued on Wednesday 4 November, under the federal government's petroleum pricing mechanism.

Petrol falls by Rs7.06 a litre, to Rs362.00 from Rs369.06, while high-speed diesel drops by Rs3.71 a litre, to Rs387.81 from Rs391.52. The revised prices are ex-depot rates and include Rs114 a litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 a litre on diesel, according to the reports.

Daily pricing, falling crude

The cut follows successive reductions earlier in the week and comes as international crude prices have fallen amid uncertainty over the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran and the outcome of the US midterm elections. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said fuel prices are now fixed on a daily basis because of fluctuations in international market prices, in a bid to pass the full impact on to consumers immediately. The daily price fixation mechanism was implemented in July, replacing a weekly mechanism introduced in early March.

Under a 30-day arrangement announced earlier in the week, oil refineries will contribute a cumulative Rs15 billion towards the petroleum levy. The minister also said the government is working on a similar mechanism for LPG.

What it means at the pump

Diesel powers freight trucks, buses and much farm machinery, so a lower diesel price can ease costs for transport operators and growers, even if the saving reaches consumers only gradually. Petrol, used mainly by cars and motorcycles, affects daily commuting costs for millions of households. The next revision will depend on how international prices, premiums and the rupee move in the coming days.
