Pakistan has rejected the Afghan Taliban administration's assertion that Afghanistan neither has the capacity nor the intention to destabilise Pakistan, calling Kabul's remarks "diversionary" and demanding verifiable action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory. The statement was issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday 24 October.

What Islamabad cited

The ministry said blaming Pakistan's security institutions would not absolve the Afghan Taliban administration of its responsibility to prevent Afghan territory from being used for terrorism against Pakistan. It said Pakistan's concerns were not based on conjecture, citing the United Nations Security Council Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team's 16th report and the United States Lead Inspector General's Operation Enduring Sentinel report for January to March 2026. According to the ministry's account of the United States report, the Taliban continued to allow the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan to operate from Afghan territory, and Taliban support and greater freedom for the group contributed to increased attacks against Pakistan, with the group estimated at 4,000 to 6,000 fighters.

What Pakistan wants now

Islamabad also cited infiltration attempts, recovered foreign-origin weapons and alleged facilitation by officials in Kandahar, saying these required credible explanations rather than blanket denials. The statement called on Kabul to end any tolerance, facilitation or support for the TTP, the Balochistan Liberation Army and their affiliates, while stressing that Pakistan's security measures were directed against terrorist threats rather than the Afghan people. Pakistan said it remained willing to engage on mutual respect and concrete action. These are Pakistan's claims, citing reports it names.
