Pakistan Gold Falls Rs1,300 a Tola as Global Prices Ease

Gold buyers in Pakistan saw prices move lower on Tuesday, after a soft session in the international bullion market fed through to local jewellers' rates.

Local rates move lower

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association figures reported by multiple outlets, the price of gold fell by Rs1,300 per tola to Rs422,136. The price for 10 grams dropped by Rs1,115 to Rs361,913. The fall partly reversed the previous day's rise, when gold had climbed by Rs1,400 per tola.

Silver moved in the same direction. Silver fell by Rs85 per tola to Rs5,793, while 10 grams of silver eased by Rs73 to Rs4,966.

Global prices set the tone

In the international market, gold slipped by $13 an ounce to $3,996, while silver eased by $0.85 to $53.15 an ounce. Pakistan's domestic bullion market tracks world prices closely, so a modest global pullback is often reflected in local rates within the same trading day.

What it means for buyers

For households planning a purchase, the change is small beside the overall price level — a little over Rs400,000 per tola — but it shows how quickly sentiment in world markets reaches high-street jewellers. Traders will now watch whether the global price holds near the $4,000 mark or slips further, since that will shape the next local revision. Buyers should still confirm the day's rate with a local jeweller before buying, as retail charges can vary by shop and design. Sources: TradersUnion and The AZB.
