Sri Lanka thrash Pakistan by 8 wickets to reach ODI final

Sri Lanka thrashed Pakistan by eight wickets in Lahore on Tuesday 27 October 2026, bowling the hosts out for 110 and chasing the target in 18.1 overs to book a place in the ODI tri-series final against Pakistan on 31 October, also in Lahore. The result eliminates England from the three-team series.
Pakistan bowled out for 110
Pakistan, put in to bat after Sri Lanka won the toss, collapsed to 110 all out in 25.3 overs at Gaddafi Stadium, their second-lowest ODI total at the ground. Babar Azam top-scored with 29 off 33 balls, but no other batter passed 20: Hasan Nawaz made 17 and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi 15, while opener Fakhar Zaman managed only five. Dilshan Madushanka led the Sri Lanka attack with five wickets for 34 runs, and Sahan Arachchige took two.
A comfortable chase
Sri Lanka chased 111 with little trouble, reaching 114 for two in 18.1 overs. The win completed a sharp turnaround for the visitors, who had lost to Pakistan by 37 runs when the sides met in Rawalpindi on 18 October, but then chased a record 430 against England in Rawalpindi. Pakistan had already qualified for the final after winning their first three matches of the series.
What the result means
The final on 31 October will therefore be a Pakistan v Sri Lanka rematch in Lahore, with England out of the running after failing to win a match in the series. For Pakistan, the heavy defeat is a setback days after their dramatic one-wicket win over England in Lahore, when Shadab Khan's unbeaten 113 rescued a chase of 242 from 154 for nine. Sri Lanka, by contrast, carry the momentum of two big wins into the final.
