Payload Ransomware Claims Four German Victims

The ransomware group known as Payload has listed four German organisations as victims on its leak site, according to threat intelligence reports published on 7 November 2026. The claims, which have not been independently verified, were first recorded by the Ransomware.live tracker and reported by the ThreatMon intelligence team.

The largest claim concerns Brauco, a German company that cleans, inspects and rehabilitates sewer and pipeline systems. Payload claims to have taken 142GB of data from the firm. A second claim targets Autohaus Arnold, a Volkswagen Group dealership in Bavaria, with the group alleging it stole 45GB of data. The other two names on the list are Schroers Ingenieure, an engineering firm, and Otto Stops, an IT systems integrator based in Neuss.

No technical details have been published about how any of the four organisations was allegedly reached, and no ransom demand has been disclosed for any of them. The date a victim appears on a leak site is also not necessarily the date of the original intrusion, so the timing of any alleged compromise remains unknown.

Payload is a comparatively new group, having emerged in early 2026. Threat researchers say it uses code derived from the Babuk ransomware family and runs double-extortion attacks, in which data is stolen before systems are encrypted so victims face two demands at once. The group has listed more than 90 victims since February 2026, across healthcare, energy, real estate and agriculture.

Until any of the four named organisations confirms an incident, or independent evidence emerges, these listings should be treated as unverified claims rather than confirmed breaches. Organisations in the affected sectors should still check their own exposure, since leak-site claims sometimes precede a confirmed incident.
