Russia names Medinsky-led team for Abu Dhabi talks

Russia has named its delegation for the new round of US-mediated talks with Ukraine in Abu Dhabi next week, with presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky again leading the team.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the line-up to the Interfax news agency on Saturday 7 November. The talks are scheduled for Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 November and will be the first trilateral meeting between Russia, Ukraine and the United States since February.
Who is on the Russian team
The delegation includes Deputy Foreign Ministers Sergei Ryabkov and Mikhail Galuzin, military intelligence chief Igor Kostyukov, and Yuri Zhigarlovsky, a senior officer in the General Staff's Main Operational Directorate, the body responsible for military planning and operations. Ryabkov and Zhigarlovsky are joining the negotiating group for the first time. Presidential aide Yury Ushakov will oversee the negotiations in his foreign-policy role.
President Vladimir Putin discussed preparations for the talks with members of his Security Council on Friday 6 November, with the officials selected for the delegation attending the meeting.
What the talks will cover
US special envoy Steve Witkoff has said the parties plan to discuss security guarantees, de-escalation, humanitarian issues and further steps towards a peaceful settlement. Ukraine's delegation will be led by Rustem Umerov, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, alongside presidential office chief Kyrylo Budanov and parliamentary faction leader David Arakhamia.
Kyiv has said its priorities include security guarantees, an energy ceasefire, de-escalation in the Black Sea, the return of Ukrainian children and prisoner exchanges. Moscow has said the trilateral format does not provide for European participation, a point European governments have continued to dispute.
