Storm Boelo continued to batter the UK on Sunday 25 October 2026, with amber wind warnings in force, flood alerts across England, and disruption to travel and power supplies. The Met Office amber warning for wind covered large parts of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland from 20:00 on Saturday until 21:00 on Sunday, with gusts reported up to 80 miles per hour.

Flood alerts and coastal risk

The Environment Agency issued flood alerts on Sunday morning, including for the Humber estuary, where flooding was possible from high tides, strong winds and large waves between 17:00 and 20:00 on Sunday and again in the early hours of Monday. The agency warned people to avoid coastal roads, footpaths and car parks that could flood, and to stay away from promenades where wave overtopping was possible. In total, reporting on Sunday morning put England's position at 10 flood warnings and 67 flood alerts, with no severe flood warnings in force at that point.

Travel and power disruption

Train and ferry services were cancelled in affected areas, hundreds of properties remained without power, and an oil tanker issued a distress alert, according to reporting of the storm's impact. The Met Office warned of danger to life, travel disruption and structural damage in the worst-affected areas. The amber warning was due to expire at 21:00 on Sunday, but flood alerts for rivers and coasts can remain in place after wind warnings lift, because high river levels and high tides take longer to fall.

Anyone travelling on Sunday evening should check with their operator before setting out, and should never walk or drive through flood water. DailyByte will update this brief if the Met Office or the Environment Agency issues new warnings.
