Taiwan Detects 4 PLA Aircraft, 6 Warships Near Island

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence said on Sunday that it detected four Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels operating around the island in the previous 24 hours.
According to the ministry's update, four sorties of People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, six PLA Navy vessels and two official ships were detected in the monitoring window ending at 6am local time on Sunday. Two of the four aircraft sorties crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan's southwestern air defence identification zone (ADIZ).
The ministry said the Republic of China armed forces had monitored the situation and responded. It published the figures in its regular daily update on Chinese military activity around Taiwan.
The latest figures come days after Taiwan accused the China Coast Guard on 3 November of harassing ships off its eastern coast and attempting to assert jurisdiction over surrounding waters. Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration dispatched vessels, including the Ji An, to monitor the Chinese coast guard activity, according to reports.
Beijing regards Taiwan as part of China, while Taipei rejects that claim. Chinese military aircraft and vessels operate around the island on a near-daily basis, and Taiwan publishes a daily count of the activity it detects.
