At least 12 people were injured, including six children, in a shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, late on Saturday 24 October 2026, the Tallahassee Police Department and the university said. Eleven of the injured suffered gunshot wounds. Police said six of the victims were adults and six were juveniles, the youngest aged 11.

What police have said so far

The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets, close to the stadium, during the university's homecoming weekend. Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell told reporters that a fight broke out before the shooting, and that investigators believed it was an isolated incident involving two or three individuals. No arrests had been made at the time of the latest police update. One victim was in critical condition, at least two others were seriously injured, and the rest were reported stable.

A crowded scene after the game

The shooting followed a football game, in a crowded area where people were leaving the stadium. Police said officers carried victims to safety before the scene was fully secure because crowds made it hard to reach them. One of the 12 injured was a grandmother hurt while fleeing the scene, rather than by gunfire. The university said on social media that the campus remained safe.

What happens next

Police have asked anyone who saw anything to come forward, giving the department's number and the local Crime Solvers line. The investigation is at an early stage: the motive, the number of shooters and the sequence of the fight that preceded the gunfire have not been established. This brief will be updated if police announce arrests or revise the casualty figures. Sources: Reuters; Associated Press.
