Trump votes early in Florida alongside Melania ahead of midterms

President Donald Trump voted in person in Florida alongside First Lady Melania Trump on Saturday 24 October, before heading to Georgia for a campaign rally as the midterm elections approach. The couple arrived at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office at 3.58pm, according to pool reports. Trump told reporters 'everything is good' as he walked inside, and when asked whether he voted along party lines, he replied 'Very much so', according to the Associated Press.
A change of tune on early voting
Trump wore an 'I Voted' sticker after casting his ballot. His in-person vote comes after he used mail-in ballots in Florida elections earlier this year, despite repeatedly criticising the voting method and pushing for restrictions on its use. He has also previously criticised early voting periods, calling early voting 'stupid' on the campaign trail in 2024, but has urged Republicans to cast ballots early in the current cycle.
What is at stake
Early voting in Palm Beach County for the 3 November general election began on 19 October and is scheduled to continue through 1 November. The midterms will determine the balance of power in Congress and shape the political environment for the remainder of Trump's presidency, with Republicans fighting to retain control of Congress against a Democratic challenge. Trump has held near-daily rallies in a final campaign blitz across battleground states.
