The UK government announced on 26 October 2026 that four energy companies will be official partners for the UK Pavilion at COP31, the 2026 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Antalya, Türkiye. The partners are Kraken Technologies, National Grid, Octopus Energy and SSE.

What the government says the pavilion is for

The government presents the pavilion as a showcase for British clean energy, grids and technology, and as a place for public and private partners to show how electrification and the clean energy transition can cut costs and strengthen energy security. Officials argue that countries making the right decisions at and after COP will face less vulnerability to foreign powers, lower energy costs and higher economic growth.

SSE points to a £33 billion investment

SSE, one of the partners, said it is investing £33 billion in renewables, grids, storage and flexibility for a secure, affordable and clean energy system. Its chief executive, Martin Pibworth, said public-private partnership can turn national ambition on electrification into action. SSE describes itself as a leading generator of renewables and flexible energy in Britain and Ireland, covering onshore and offshore wind, hydro, transmission and distribution, power stations, carbon capture, hydrogen, solar and batteries.

Why this matters ahead of the summit

COP summits are where governments negotiate climate action and where countries compete to attract clean-energy investment. A high-profile national pavilion, backed by major grid and supplier names, is intended to signal that the UK is open for that investment. What the pavilion actually delivers will depend on the deals and announcements made during the conference itself, rather than on the sponsorship announcement alone.
