Ukraine Power Hit as Overnight Strikes Intensify

Russian strikes left hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without power on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said, as both sides kept up long-range air attacks despite a local ceasefire holding on its final day around the Russian-controlled town of Oleshky.
Zelenskiy said Russia had hit power infrastructure in four Ukrainian regions overnight, and warned that the intensity of the strikes was very high, with Russia seeking to exploit a shortage of ballistic missile interceptors. Ukraine's air force said it had shot down 371 of the 433 long-range drones Russia had launched since Saturday evening, with dozens still in the air on Sunday morning.
Strikes in both directions
Ukraine, meanwhile, said it had hit the Kamensky plant in Russia's Rostov region, which Zelenskiy said was involved in manufacturing Russian missiles. Russian authorities reported major damage to an industrial site in the Nizhny Novgorod region after a large-scale overnight Ukrainian drone attack, without identifying the facility; the region is home to the NORSI oil refinery, one of Russia's largest, although it has not been confirmed that the refinery was hit.
Russia's Defence Ministry said its forces had downed 235 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions overnight. Ukraine says it supports a full ceasefire on energy targets, including its own battered power grid, but that Moscow is unwilling to agree to such an arrangement. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries were adding to global fuel market imbalances and affecting prices.
