Zelenskyy: Russia Fired 115 Missiles at Ukraine in a Week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russia launched 115 missiles of various types, nearly 1,900 guided aerial bombs and more than 3,000 attack drones against Ukrainian cities and communities in the past week. He published the figures on Sunday, 8 November, in a statement reported by LaPresse.

Zelenskyy said the attacks were combined strikes involving a large number of ballistic missiles, and that a significant proportion of the missiles were manufactured this year. The figures are the president's own account of the week's attacks and have not been independently verified.

He argued that if the world does not have enough anti-ballistic defences to protect Ukrainian airspace, the missiles must be stopped where they are made. "If the world does not have sufficient anti-ballistic capabilities to protect Ukrainian airspace, then the missiles must be stopped on the production lines," he wrote.

Zelenskyy called for a strong 22nd sanctions package from the European Union, and for Ukrainian, European and Group of Seven restrictions to be synchronised. He said Ukraine imposed sweeping national sanctions throughout October against people and companies involved in Russian defence manufacturing, and that those measures must be replicated across EU and G7 jurisdictions.

The aim, he said, is to cut off the imported machine tools, chemicals and electronic chips needed to assemble Russian missiles. He thanked partners who he said were really helping, and said Ukraine regularly shares information with allies about Russian companies involved in ballistic weapons production.
