BA Glasgow aircraft engineer apprenticeship closes 19 Nov

British Airways is recruiting for its Licensed Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship in Glasgow, with applications closing on 19 November 2026 and the programme starting in September 2027. The role is listed on British Airways' own careers site with a salary of £17,339, and applicants may apply for only one apprenticeship across the airline's Wales, Gatwick and Glasgow sites. Applications or assessments submitted after the deadline may be withdrawn.
What the four-year programme involves
The formal apprenticeship runs for four years, followed by further development in years five to seven and beyond towards a B licence and aircraft Type Approval. It is aligned to Civil Aviation Authority Part-66 licensing requirements. Year one is full-time college learning with a shopfloor introduction, years two and three combine day release with practical experience, and year four focuses on workplace development. From year two onwards, shopfloor placements follow a four-days-on, four-days-off pattern.
Who can apply
Applicants need GCSE English at grade 9 to 4, or Scottish National 5, plus A-level or Higher mathematics and A-level or Higher physics, engineering or chemistry, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification. They must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom. British Airways says salary progresses after completing year one, and apprentices receive a uniform from year one and benefits including discounted flights.
How to apply
Candidates should apply through British Airways' own careers page for the Glasgow vacancy, completing the pre-application task in the Discover and Prep hub before submitting an application. Successful applicants may be invited to a video interview in November, followed by further testing and an assessment centre at Waterside in January or February 2027. No fee is charged to apply, and applicants should never pay an agent to submit an application on their behalf.
