Carlos Alcaraz Beats Shelton to Win Paris Masters

Carlos Alcaraz beat Ben Shelton 7-6 (5), 7-5 in the Paris Masters final on Sunday to win his first title at the event and the ninth Masters 1000 crown of his career.
The world number three saved six break points in a tightly contested first set before taking the tiebreak, where Shelton overshot the baseline three times with his forehand. Alcaraz then recovered from a break down in the second set to seal victory on his second match point with a backhand winner down the line at the indoor Plenitude Arena in Nanterre.
Fifth title of 2026
The win was Alcaraz's second straight title after his victory in Vienna last Sunday, and his fifth of the year. It was the 29th title of his career and followed his return from a right wrist injury in late August.
Alcaraz also gained revenge for his defeat by Shelton in the US Open quarter-finals two months ago, and became the first Spaniard to win the Paris tournament since David Ferrer in 2012. He had almost gone out on Friday, saving two match points against Taylor Fritz in their quarter-final.
ATP Finals next
Alcaraz now heads to the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, which start next Sunday, aiming to win that trophy for the first time. Shelton, who was seeking his eighth title overall and a third Masters crown, had beaten Alcaraz at the US Open two months ago, but Alcaraz has now won four of their five meetings. The pair embraced at the net after the final point.
