Sophie Devine produced a match-winning all-round display as Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by six wickets in the Women's Big Bash League at North Sydney Oval on Sunday, keeping their unbeaten start to the season intact.

Chasing 137, the Scorchers reached their target in only 15 overs, with 30 balls to spare, after the Stars had posted 136 for six from their 20 overs. Devine was named player of the match for a rapid 55 from 24 balls and figures of two for 18.

The New Zealand all-rounder reached her half-century from just 21 deliveries, the fastest of her WBBL career, and set the tone for a chase that never looked in doubt. Beth Mooney added 28 from 24 balls, while Mikayla Hinkley finished unbeaten on 24 and Chloe Piparo on 14 as Perth crossed the line with four wickets in hand.

Earlier, Stars captain Meg Lanning had held her side's innings together with 56 from 46 balls, but no other batter passed 30 as the Scorchers' attack kept the scoring in check. Devine's two wickets were part of a disciplined bowling effort that left the Stars short of a competitive total on a good batting surface.

The result was Perth's fourth win in a row in WBBL|12 and their second victory over the Stars this season, having beaten the same opponents by 15 runs in Melbourne earlier in the tournament. Devine is also the competition's leading wicket-taker so far, with nine wickets in four matches.

The Scorchers stay at the top of the standings, while the Stars are left searching for consistency after another defeat to the team setting the early pace in this season's competition.
