Ben Duckett struck 167 from 132 balls as England beat Sri Lanka by 55 runs in the final league match of the Pakistan-hosted ODI tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Thursday. Sri Lanka's captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and chose to field, but England piled up 386 for five from their 50 overs before bowling the visitors out for 331 in 45.1 overs. The result gave England a consolation win, although they had already been eliminated from the tournament before the match began.

Two century stands set up the big total

Duckett shared a 163-run opening partnership with Tom Banton, who made 74 from 75 balls, before adding 107 for the second wicket with captain Harry Brook, who scored 44 from 34 balls. Duckett hit 24 fours in his innings before falling in the 42nd over, and Jordan Cox kept the momentum going with 43 from 27 balls late in the innings. Liam Dawson then took four wickets for 49 runs as Sri Lanka's chase fell short despite a fluent reply.

Final set for Saturday in Lahore

The result leaves Pakistan and Sri Lanka to contest the final at the same ground on Saturday 31 October. Pakistan finished top of the standings, while Sri Lanka reached the decider after beating the hosts by eight wickets earlier in the week, when they bowled Pakistan out for 110. England leave the tournament with a win to take home, but their campaign had already ended before Thursday's match.
