England A produced an emphatic display to beat Argentina XV 59-24 at The Rec in Bath on Friday night, running in nine tries in their first fixture of the 2026-27 season.

Winger Noah Caluori set the tone, crossing after just two minutes, but the visitors hit back quickly and led 14-7 after tries from Rodrigo Fernandez Criado and Pedro Delgado. Bath favourite Max Ojomoh levelled the contest in the 19th minute, Charlie Atkinson put England ahead five minutes later, and Caluori's second try before the break gave the home side control.

Mark Mapletoft's team pulled clear after half-time. Jack Kenningham and Jamie Blamire crossed early in the second half, Luke Northmore scored twice, and Tobias Elliott completed the nine-try haul. Atkinson kicked five conversions and Billy Searle added two.

England Rugby said the side gained 500 metres in the match, underlining the dominance of the performance after a shaky opening quarter. Argentina added further tries through Santiago Pernas and Federico Serpa, but never threatened to close the gap once England found their rhythm.

The fixture, which does not carry full senior Test status, is a key part of England's pathway system, giving fringe players a chance to press for senior selection. Several of them took that chance in front of a Bath crowd that saw Ojomoh, on his home ground, play a central role.

The senior England side now turns to its own autumn opener, against Australia at Allianz Stadium on Sunday at 3.10pm, with head coach Steve Borthwick naming four changes to the team that beat Argentina 31-24 in July and Fin Smith fit again to start at fly-half after recovering from a calf problem.
