Forest stun Man City 3-1 as Delap scores twice

Nottingham Forest stunned Manchester City 3-1 at the City Ground on Saturday, handing the champions a third straight Premier League defeat and dealing a fresh blow to their title hopes.
Jair Cunha opened the scoring in the sixth minute, punishing a defensive error to put the hosts ahead. Liam Delap, who came through Manchester City's academy, doubled the lead in the 18th minute with a powerful solo run and finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma.
It was the earliest City had trailed by two goals in a Premier League match since November 2019, according to Opta, and the home crowd sensed a famous result. Forest had failed to score in any of their top-flight home games so far this season before Saturday, making the fast start all the more remarkable.
City pulled one back in the 52nd minute when Rayan Cherki struck a superb half-volley, and the visitors pressed for an equaliser. But Delap settled the contest in the 73rd minute, racing on to a rapid counter-attack led by Morgan Gibbs-White and smashing the ball into the top corner for his second of the game.
The defeat means City have now lost three league matches in a row, following defeats by Aston Villa and Brighton. They kicked off the evening six points behind leaders Arsenal, who had earlier beaten Hull City 1-0 to move further clear at the top.
For Forest, the win was a statement result under Oliver Glasner, ending their wait for a first home league goal of the season in style and lifting the mood at the City Ground after a difficult run.
