The role and where it sits

The post is a Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Officer in Haringey's Adult Social Care Commissioning and Quality Assurance Team, based at 48 Station Road, Wood Green, London N22 7TY. It is a full-time role of 36 hours a week on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a starting salary on grade PO4 of £50,676 to £53,919. Interviews are expected in the week beginning 9 November 2026.

The team works with care providers, health colleagues and safeguarding partners to make sure residents receive safe, responsive and person-centred support. Its work covers the local care market rather than a single service, which means the successful candidate will deal with a range of providers and settings across the borough.

What the job involves day to day

The officer monitors the quality and safety of regulated and non-regulated adult social care services, visiting providers to assess compliance and spot where improvement is needed. Where concerns arise, the role leads and coordinates safeguarding enquiries and investigations under the council's quality assurance and contract monitoring framework, and supports the chair of safeguarding strategy meetings.

Much of the work is about turning findings into action. The officer develops and maintains monitoring systems, analyses information, and produces reports, briefings and recommendations for senior leaders. The role also involves responding to concerns, complaints and emerging risks in the care market, and working closely with providers to improve practice rather than simply recording problems.

Who should apply and how

The council says it wants candidates with strong knowledge of adult safeguarding law, policy and practice, and experience in adult social care, health, commissioning, quality assurance or safeguarding. Knowledge of legislation including the Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act, care-related legislation and equality legislation is also listed, alongside strong communication, analytical and organisational skills.

The council's benefits package, as stated on the listing, includes leave of up to 31 days plus bank holidays, potential hybrid working, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and discount schemes. Applications are made through the official Haringey Jobs page linked in the sources below — no agent, fee or third-party application route is mentioned, and none should be used. The council warns it may close the advert early if enough applications arrive, so early application is advised.
