Dozens of new Scottish jobs lined up as Linxon wins SP Energy Networks grid contract

The contract
SP Energy Networks has signed a multi-million-pound contract with electricity infrastructure specialist Linxon. Linxon says dozens of new jobs are set to be delivered in Scotland. No exact vacancy count is stated in the announcement, so none is given here, and this is a hiring and expansion announcement rather than an individual vacancy listing.
Linxon's Glasgow office opened earlier in 2026 and has since grown to approximately twice its original capacity. The work sits inside SP Energy Networks' £12 billion programme to strengthen Scotland's transmission network.
The work involved
It covers the Tealing to Kincardine overhead line upgrade and connections to Eastern Green Link 4. Fife overhead lines will be upgraded from 275kV to 400kV, with expanded infrastructure at Conland, Devonside, Mossmorran and Westfield.
Linxon will deliver substation design and source materials, including new 400kV gas- and air-insulated substations. Hitachi Energy supplies grid automation and SF6-free EconiQ switchgear. Roles described are highly skilled engineering and project delivery professionals, and jobseekers should watch Linxon's own careers pages for individual vacancies as they open.
The upgrade programme is part of a wider reinforcement of Scotland's electricity transmission network, as demand grows and new renewable generation connects to the grid. Linxon said the Glasgow expansion reflects the scale of work now under way, and the company will need skilled engineers and project staff as delivery ramps up across the programme.
