Haringey Council is recruiting a Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Officer for its Adult Social Care Commissioning and Quality Assurance Team. The role is fixed term for 12 months, working 36 hours a week from 48 Station Road, Wood Green, London, at a starting salary of PO4, £50,676 to £53,919.

Applications close on Sunday 1 November 2026 at 23:59, with interviews expected in the week beginning 9 November 2026. The council notes that it may end the advert before the deadline if it receives sufficient applications, so early application is advised. The role is listed on Haringey’s own official jobs site, which is the application route for this vacancy.

What the role covers

The post-holder will monitor the quality and safety of regulated and non-regulated adult social care services, visiting care providers to assess compliance and spot where improvement is needed. They will lead and coordinate safeguarding enquiries and investigations under Haringey’s Quality Assurance and Contract Monitoring Framework, support the chair of safeguarding strategy meetings, and contribute to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.

The work also involves building systems to track quality and safeguarding performance, analysing information, and producing reports, briefings and recommendations for senior leaders. The successful candidate will respond to concerns, complaints and emerging risks in the care market, and work closely with health colleagues, social work teams, mental health services and other partners.

What Haringey is looking for

Candidates should have strong knowledge of adult safeguarding legislation, policy and practice, and experience in adult social care, health, commissioning, quality assurance or safeguarding. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to influence, challenge and support providers to reach high standards.

Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, care-related legislation and equality legislation is also sought, together with strong analytical and organisational skills. Benefits listed by the council include leave of up to 31 days plus bank holidays, potential hybrid working, health and wellbeing support, and a local government pension scheme.
