The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Appointment Centre Administrator, offering a permanent, full-time role at Band 2 on £25,272 a year. The post is based at Regent Point, Gosforth, Newcastle, and the working pattern is 37 hours and 30 minutes a week.

The closing date is 1 November 2026, with interviews planned for Wednesday 11 November 2026. Applicants are directed through the official NHS Jobs listing to apply via Trac, and the vacancy reference is 317-2026-43-34-DR. The Trust warns that it may close the advert early if it receives enough applications, so interested candidates should not wait until the final day.

What the job involves

The Appointment Booking Centre manages more than 280,000 patient appointments a year, handling over 1,500 telephone calls a day. Staff in the centre may deal with around 100 calls a day each, managing large volumes of inbound and outbound calls while keeping customer care standards high.

The Trust is looking for flexible, enthusiastic team players with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates need to be able to prioritise work, handle difficult situations, and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Previous experience in an outpatient department, customer care or a call centre is helpful but not essential, as training will be given.

Who can apply

Applicants need good literacy and numeracy skills and IT skills in Windows-based applications. An NVQ Level 2 in an appropriate subject, or equivalent qualification or experience, is essential. Previous administration or customer care experience is desirable rather than required.

The Trust describes itself as flexible-working friendly and says it will try to accommodate a working arrangement that suits both the service and the successful candidate. The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Full details, including the person specification and job description, are on the official NHS Jobs advert linked below — applicants should read the whole listing before applying.
