Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, where the Northern Care Alliance IBD specialist nurse will be based

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) specialist nurse to join its team at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, with applications closing on 11 November 2026.

The permanent, full-time post is graded at Band 7, with a salary of £49,387 to £56,515 a year. The successful applicant will work with the trust's IBD nursing team at Fairfield General Hospital, providing services across Oldham and Rochdale hospitals as well.

According to the NHS Jobs advert, the role involves assessing patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, leading nurse-led clinics and managing a telephone and email advice service. The nurse will also lead the management of patients receiving biologic therapies and support people living with complex, long-term bowel conditions throughout their treatment.

Applicants must be registered nurses with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration, hold an independent prescribing qualification, and have completed a management of inflammatory bowel disease disorders module at level 6 or above. Extensive post-registration experience in gastroenterology is also required.

The Northern Care Alliance provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to more than one million people across Greater Manchester, employing around 20,000 colleagues across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford. The trust says the vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received or an internal redeployee is identified, so interested candidates should apply promptly through NHS Jobs.
