Jillaroos Smash Record in 124-6 Wales Rout

Australia produced a record-breaking performance at CommBank Stadium in Sydney on Sunday, beating Wales 124-6 in the final group match of the Women's Rugby League World Cup. The 21-try victory set a new benchmark for a women's international and for a World Cup match, and it sent the defending champions into a semi-final against Fiji.
Chapman stars with six tries
Winger Jaime Chapman crossed for six tries, equalling the Jillaroos record for most tries in a single match, while veteran centre Jess Sergis scored four. Australia led 60-0 at half-time, already the biggest half-time score in World Cup history, and never eased off after the break despite having already secured their place in the last four.
Southwell shines on debut
Halfback Jesse Southwell enjoyed a remarkable Test debut, scoring a try and landing 20 of her 21 conversion attempts for a personal tally of 44 points, just two short of the Australian record. Keilee Joseph added a double from the bench, and Tamika Upton also scored twice in a display built on speed out wide and relentless pressure through the middle.
A proud moment for Wales
Wales, playing in their first World Cup, had already lost heavily to England and Samoa, but they refused to fold and were rewarded when Paige Travis scored from a Tayla Preston chip at 100-0 down. That try made Wales the first side to score against Australia in this tournament and drew warm applause around the ground. The Jillaroos now face Fiji at Allianz Stadium next Sunday, chasing a fourth successive world title.
