Man Utd Fight Back to Draw 4-4 With Aston Villa

Manchester United scored twice in stoppage time to rescue a 4-4 draw with Aston Villa in a remarkable Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday. Substitute Joshua Zirkzee pulled one back in the second minute of added time, and Patrick Dorgu headed in the equaliser in the sixth, completing a comeback from 4-2 down.

Villa had led 2-0 inside four minutes. Alysson opened the scoring after just one minute, and Nicolas Jackson doubled the lead three minutes later, the earliest Manchester United have ever trailed 2-0 in a Premier League game. United fought back before the break, with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot in the 16th minute and Youri Tielemans, against his former club, levelling in the 44th.

Villa restored their two-goal lead early in the second half. John McGinn converted a penalty in the 48th minute after Diogo Dalot fouled Alysson, and Leon Goretzka made it 4-2 in the 53rd, poking home after Leny Yoro headed a free kick against his own crossbar in a goalmouth scramble.

United refused to accept defeat. Zirkzee, brought on in the 83rd minute, turned in Dorgu's cross in the 92nd minute, and four minutes later Dorgu met Fernandes' delivery with a header to make it 4-4. The referee blew for full time in the ninth minute of stoppage time with the scores level.

The point takes United to eight points from ten league games. They began the match 19th in the table after taking just seven points from their first nine, and they are now eight league games without a win. Head coach Michael Carrick, who had said before the game that he had received no assurances about his future beyond the November international break, heads into that break still under heavy pressure. Villa, unbeaten in five league games before kick-off, will feel they let two points slip away after leading twice by two goals.
