Seven people were killed and seven others injured when a car plunged into a ravine and caught fire on Barhoha Link Road in Murree, rescue officials said. The crash was reported on Monday, 26 October 2026. The seven people who died were reported to have died at the scene, while the injured were taken for medical treatment.

According to rescue authorities quoted in the reports, 14 members of the same family were travelling in the vehicle. They were returning from a nearby village after attending a wedding when the car left the road, plunged into the ravine and caught fire. The injured passengers were shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for treatment, the reports said. No names of people who died or were injured are included in this brief, and further details about the circumstances of the crash were still awaited at the time of reporting.

Rescue response and road safety questions

Rescue teams carried out operations at the scene after the crash, and the severity of the fire added to the difficulty of the response on the hillside road. Mountain roads around Murree carry a mix of local traffic and visitors, and steep drops beside the carriageway leave little margin when a vehicle leaves the road. The reports do not, at this stage, attribute a single cause to this crash, and any finding on speed, road condition or vehicle condition would need to come from the formal inquiry into the incident.

The crash is a reminder of the risks on hill routes, particularly for larger family groups travelling together in a single vehicle. Relatives, local officials and rescue workers face the immediate task of supporting the injured and arranging funerals for those who died.
