Napoli hold Lazio 1-1 as leaders' winning run ends

Napoli held Serie A leaders Lazio to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday, 8 November, ending the visitors' run of six straight league wins while keeping Lazio unbeaten and top of the table.
Davide Frattesi gave Lazio the lead in the 28th minute, racing onto a through ball from Tijjani Noslin and finishing emphatically for his fourth goal of the season. Lazio had dominated much of the first half, and goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic kept Napoli out at the other end, while Christos Mandas denied Rasmus Hojlund before the break.
Napoli drew level three minutes into the second half. Half-time substitute Alfonso Pedraza, on for the injured Nuno Tavares, turned a cross from Noa Lang into his own net under pressure from Scott McTominay and Hojlund. It was the first point Napoli have taken from a Serie A game after going behind this season, although they remain without a clean sheet in eight matches.
The draw takes Lazio to 29 points from 11 games, two clear of Roma at the top, and it is only the second time this season the leaders have dropped points. Napoli stay 10th on 15 points, 14 behind Lazio. Napoli had gone into the game under pressure after defeats to Juventus and a 4-1 loss at Porto in the Champions League, and the point at least stopped a third straight defeat in all competitions.
Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso said afterwards he was pleased to find a disappointed Lazio dressing room, a measure of how far his side's standards have risen this season. Full details of the match are available on theScore and TNT Sports.
