Dry Days and Cold Nights Forecast for Punjab and Northern Pakistan

Most of Punjab is expected to stay dry on Monday and Tuesday, 26 and 27 October 2026, while cold conditions settle over Murree, Galiyat and the northern areas at night, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The forecast, issued by the department's National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad on Monday morning, points to a largely settled start to the week for much of the country, with the coldest weather confined to the hills and the north.
Dry across Punjab, cold in the hills
Continental air is prevailing over most parts of Pakistan, the PMD said, keeping conditions predominantly dry. In Punjab, most districts are forecast to see dry weather on both days. Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas are the exception, with cold weather expected during the night on Monday and during both the morning and night on Tuesday. Across the country as a whole, partly cloudy conditions are likely in the northern regions, where temperatures are also expected to stay cold at night on Monday and in the morning and at night on Tuesday.
What the past 24 hours showed
The department reported that dry weather had already prevailed across most of the country over the previous 24 hours, while northern areas experienced cold conditions in the morning and at night. Skardu recorded the lowest minimum temperature, at minus 1°C, followed by Ziarat at 1°C and Kalat at 2°C. Babusar and Astore both recorded minimum temperatures of 3°C. For residents and travellers heading to Murree, Galiyat and other northern areas, the forecast points to a need to prepare for colder conditions, particularly in the early mornings and at night, even as daytime conditions elsewhere remain dry.
