Pontypridd go top after 4-0 win over Llanelli Town

Pontypridd United moved to the top of Novira Cymru South with a 4-0 victory over bottom side Llanelli Town at USW Sports Park on Friday. Two quick goals midway through the first half put the home side in control, and they never looked back.
Ethan Edwards continued his strong scoring form before captain Jamie Veale found the net for the first time this season. Edwards then scored his tenth league goal of the campaign in the 65th minute, and Josh Stephens completed the scoring. The defeat leaves Llanelli bottom of the table and ten points adrift of safety.
Ynyshir end leaders’ unbeaten run
Pontypridd finished the weekend in first place because previous leaders Pure Swansea lost their unbeaten record, going down 4-2 at Ynyshir Albions on Saturday. Joseff Haig put Ynyshir ahead, but Casey Coughlin and Tom Johnston turned the game around for the visitors.
Kai Crossley levelled before half-time, and club veteran Scott Jones, making his 300th appearance for the club, scored from the penalty spot to complete the turnaround. Haig scored again to confirm the win, which moved Ynyshir to fifth, five points behind Pontypridd.
Hat-trick hero lifts Newport
Sam Johnson scored a hat-trick for the third match in a row as Newport City climbed out of the relegation zone with a 3-2 win over Llantwit Major. Johnson scored twice inside the opening ten minutes, and although Tom Tweedy pulled one back, Johnson completed his treble shortly before half-time. Newport held on for the win.
Aberystwyth Town climbed to second with a 2-1 comeback win over Trethomas Bluebirds, while Pontardawe Town also came from behind to beat Carmarthen Town 2-1. Caerau Ely, Cardiff Draconians and Treowen Stars also won.
