Selby out as snooker last 16 takes shape in Nanjing

Mark Selby became the latest leading name to leave the International Championship on Monday, as Hossein Vafaei beat the former world champion 6-2 in the third round in Nanjing. The result was one of several eye-catching scores on a day that settled the last-16 line-up for the ranking event, which runs until the final on Saturday, 7 November.
Vafaei was in control throughout and closed out a comfortable victory. Fan Zhengyi, who had already ended Judd Trump’s tournament with a 6-5 win on Sunday, kept his run going with a 6-2 defeat of Pang Junxu.
Big names fall on day three
Neil Robertson also departed, losing 6-4 to Wang Xinbo, while defending champion Wu Yize was beaten 6-5 by Stephen Maguire in a close finish. World champion Zhao Xintong survived a stern test, edging Sam Craigie 6-5, and Ding Junhui came through another decider, beating Zhang Anda 6-5.
Elsewhere, Mark Williams beat Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 6-3, John Higgins defeated Xu Si 6-2, and Kyren Wilson won 6-1 against Ryan Day. Si Jiahui recorded the most one-sided win of the round, beating Liu Hongyu 6-0.
