Royal Oldham Hospital in Greater Manchester, where the senior specialist theatre practitioner role is based

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a senior specialist theatre practitioner for Royal Oldham Hospital, with applications closing on 19 November 2026.

The permanent post is graded at Band 6, with a salary of £39,959 to £48,117 a year, and is available on a full-time or part-time basis. The successful applicant will work across the hospital's theatre environments, supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey.

According to the NHS Jobs advert, the practitioner will rotate across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery according to service needs, providing safe, effective and patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team. The service runs seven days a week, including 24-hour emergency theatre cover, with a variety of shift patterns.

Applicants must be registered as an operating department practitioner or a registered nurse with relevant qualifications and experience, including substantial post-registration experience, experience of managing a team and a leadership course. The role also involves clinical leadership, supporting junior staff and students, and contributing to audit, clinical governance and service improvement.

The Northern Care Alliance employs around 20,000 colleagues caring for more than one million people across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford. The trust notes the vacancy may close early where high application volumes are received, so candidates are advised to apply through NHS Jobs without delay.
