Solana and XRP Lead Crypto Weekly Slide

Solana and XRP have led the weekly slide in cryptocurrencies, with Solana clinging to the $90 level and XRP the weakest of the major tokens after a week of heavy selling across digital assets.
Solana traded near $90 on Saturday 7 November, up slightly on the day after briefly slipping below that level on Friday. The token is down about 6.5% over five sessions and sits just above its 200-day moving average of about $89, with support at $88.30. Traders are watching whether that long-term average holds after the token fell 6.6% over the week to around $90.40.
XRP has fared worse. It traded at about $1.16 to $1.17 on Saturday, down about 3% on the day and about 7.6% over the week. It was the weakest large cryptocurrency in the sell-off, with Friday's XRP liquidations running at 2.7 times the weekly average and 95.5% of them long positions. Its 200-day moving average of $1.27 now sits above the current price, a sign of a bearish longer-term trend, and its relative strength index of about 33 points to heavy selling pressure.
The wider market has also struggled. Bitcoin held at about $75,800 on Saturday after touching $74,762 on Friday, its lowest level since 21 August, and Ethereum traded at about $2,230, its lowest in ten weeks. More than $1 billion in leveraged crypto positions were liquidated within 24 hours during the sell-off, before easing to about $707 million over the following day.
The total cryptocurrency market value fell 2.66% over 24 hours to about $2.57 trillion on 7 November, with sentiment at extreme fear. The falls tracked the sharp drop in technology shares, with the Nasdaq falling 5.52% on Thursday and entering correction territory, as investors reassessed spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
