Sparta Praha rescue late draw as Rosenborg and Brøndby share spoils in Women's Europa Cup

**
The UEFA Women's Europa Cup round of 16 remains wide open after both first legs played on Thursday 29 October 2026 finished as draws. Sparta Praha fought back to draw 2-2 at home against Torreense, while Rosenborg and Brøndby finished 1-1 in Norway, leaving both ties finely balanced ahead of the return matches.
Sparta, who reached the semi-finals of this competition last season, looked to be heading for a home defeat before substitute Radka Paulenová struck in added time to level the match. The late goal changed the shape of the tie completely: instead of travelling to Portugal needing to overturn a deficit, Sparta will go into the second leg with the scores level and everything still to play for. Torreense, for their part, will take encouragement from scoring twice away from home, but will know that a single-goal home win is now the minimum requirement rather than a cushion to defend.
Rosenborg and Brøndby also finish level
The other Thursday tie followed a similar pattern. Rosenborg and Brøndby could not be separated in Trondheim, sharing a 1-1 draw that leaves the Danish visitors with a straightforward task in the return: win at home and go through. Rosenborg, meanwhile, will need to score in Denmark to keep their European campaign alive, with an away draw of 2-2 or better, or any away win, enough to send them into the quarter-finals.
The two Thursday results completed the round-of-16 first legs, after Wednesday's matches had produced clearer outcomes, including Wolfsburg's 7-0 win over Feyenoord and Hammarby's 3-1 victory at Spartak Myjava.
What happens next
The second legs are scheduled for 10 and 11 November 2026. Brøndby host Rosenborg at 18:00 CET on 11 November, with Torreense against Sparta Praha following at 19:00 CET the same evening. The quarter-finals will then be played over two legs in February 2027, with the final itself staged across two legs in May 2027.
