Stephen Curry produced another late masterclass on Saturday night, scoring 41 points as the Golden State Warriors held off the Orlando Magic 126-119 in overtime at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Curry converted a three-point play with 1:38 left in overtime to put Golden State ahead for good, then added a layup in the final minute to complete a 41-point night. He finished with six rebounds and six assists, shooting 13 of 19 from the field, five of 10 from three-point range and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free-throw line.

The win was Golden State's seventh in a row, a remarkable turnaround for a side that began the season with three straight defeats. The Warriors now stand at 7-3, and this is their longest winning run since a seven-game streak from March 3 to 15, 2025.

For much of the evening it looked as though the streak would end. Orlando, who trailed 57-41 at half-time, fought back to lead 78-77 going into the final period, and the closing minutes of regulation turned into a frantic exchange of baskets. Curry made a go-ahead layup with 25.2 seconds left, having scored 12 unanswered points himself in the final 2:21 of regulation, only for Jamal Cain's putback with two seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Curry settled it in the extra period. Wendell Carter Jr. missed two free throws with 1:15 remaining that would have tied the game, and Curry punished the miss with the decisive three-point play and the sealing layup. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg also played a big part, hitting a key three-pointer in overtime and finishing with 23 points and eight rebounds.

The performance carried another piece of history. It was Curry's second 40-point game of the season and his 16th 40-point effort since turning 35, the most in NBA history. LeBron James has 15 such games and Michael Jordan recorded 12. The 38-year-old, now in his 18th season, also became the seventh player ever to reach 26,000 points, 5,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Franz Wagner led Orlando with 30 points and 11 assists, while Tristan da Silva and Carter each scored 19. Cain added 18 points and 12 rebounds off the bench. Brandin Podziemski scored 15 points for Golden State and Draymond Green recorded a season-high 13 assists, while the Warriors' bench outscored Orlando's second unit 42-31.

The defeat was Orlando's fourth in a row. For Golden State, though, the early-season gloom has lifted entirely. Written off after an 0-3 start, the Warriors are now one of the hottest teams in the league, and with Curry playing like this, the streak may yet stretch further.
