VMD seeks two veterinary pharmacovigilance inspectors

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is recruiting two veterinary pharmacovigilance inspectors, according to a GOV.UK recruitment notice published on 14 October 2026 and re-checked on 2 November 2026. The roles are at Grade G7, with a salary of £64,015 a year plus pension, and 25 days of annual leave from the start. Applications close on 9 November 2026, which is still open at the time of writing.
What pharmacovigilance inspectors do
Pharmacovigilance is the monitoring of veterinary medicines once they are on the market, checking that adverse reactions and safety signals are identified, assessed and acted on. Inspectors in this field work with the systems that companies and veterinary professionals use to report suspected adverse events, and they help ensure that medicines used in animals remain safe and effective. The VMD is the UK authority responsible for veterinary medicines, and its inspectors sit at the sharp end of that safety work.
Pay and terms
The notice states a salary of £64,015 a year, plus pension, with 25 days of leave from the start of the appointment. Two posts are available, so this is a small, specialist recruitment rather than a mass hiring round, and candidates should expect the role to require relevant veterinary or regulatory experience.
How to apply
Candidates should apply through Civil Service Jobs, as directed on the GOV.UK recruitment page, and should check that page and the Civil Service Jobs listing for the full job description, eligibility requirements and application steps before applying. No payment is mentioned as part of applying, and applicants should only use the official route above. The deadline of 9 November 2026 should be confirmed on the official listing before applying, in case it changes.
