The Water and Power Development Authority has announced 141 regular posts in BPS-17, opening its largest officer-level recruitment round of the year. The advertisement was published in the Daily Jang on 8 November 2026, and applications are being received through Central Testing Services.

Engineering graduates take the largest share, with 114 of the 141 posts reserved for assistant executive engineers: 67 in civil engineering, 25 in electrical engineering, 16 in mechanical engineering and six in electronics engineering. The remaining posts are for junior seismologists and geophysicists, junior geologists, a research officer in hydraulics, assistant directors in human resources and administration, and assistant directors in public relations.

Who can apply

Engineering applicants need a B.E. or B.Sc. in the relevant field from a university recognised by the Higher Education Commission, with at least 2.0 CGPA out of 4.0 and valid registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council. Junior seismologist and geologist posts are open to candidates with an M.Sc. in geo-physics, seismology or geology in second division, or a four-year honours degree in the subject. Assistant director posts in human resources and administration are open to management graduates with 16 years of education, while the public relations posts require a master degree in journalism or an honours degree in public relations plus three years of experience as a journalist. Only the public relations post requires experience; fresh graduates can apply for the rest.

The age limit is 21 to 33 years for every post, counted on the last date for applications. The general age relaxation is already included in that limit. Candidates from minority communities, recognised tribes of the tribal areas, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir receive three further years of relaxation, and government and WAPDA employees with two years of continuous regular service receive ten years. Government employees must apply through the proper channel with a no-objection certificate.

How to apply

Applications are made on the Central Testing Services website, ctspak.com, where candidates fill in the online form for their post. A test fee of Rs 200 is paid through the prescribed bank challan at Bank Alfalah, UBL, MCB or Bank Islami, or directly into the CTS bank account through a banking application. Candidates then print the submitted form and post it with attested copies of educational documents, domicile certificate, CNIC, experience certificates where needed, two passport-size photographs and the original fee challan to Central Testing Services, Office 414, F2, Jeff Heights, Main Boulevard, Gulberg-III, Lahore.

The advertisement says forms must reach CTS within 15 days of publication, which gives a closing date of 23 November 2026. Forms delivered by hand will not be accepted, and late or incomplete forms will be rejected, so candidates posting from outside Lahore are advised to send their forms well before the deadline.

Test, interview and quotas

Central Testing Services will conduct the written test and WAPDA will conduct interviews of shortlisted candidates. Shortlisting is based on academics and test marks under the WAPDA recruitment standard operating procedure, with additional marks for higher qualifications. CTS will inform candidates by text message when roll number slips are ready to download from ctspak.com. No travelling or daily allowance will be paid for the test or interview, and the first year of appointment is a probation period. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in Pakistan.

Seats are divided under the federal quota system: 80 for Punjab, 16 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13 each for rural and urban Sindh, nine for Balochistan, six for the former FATA and Gilgit-Baltistan, and four on open merit.

This is a separate recruitment from the earlier WAPDA round for 37 Balochistan-quota posts advertised through the National Job Portal, which closes on 12 November. WAPDA and CTS have warned that the only fee in this recruitment is the Rs 200 test fee, and anyone demanding money for a test result or appointment letter is committing fraud.
