Bayern beat Freiburg 3-1 to go top of Bundesliga

Bayern Munich beat Freiburg 3-1 away on Sunday to move top of the Bundesliga, settling the match with a late strike after a nervy finish. Defender Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring in the 16th minute after a set-piece, and Serge Gnabry doubled the lead shortly before half-time to give Vincent Kompany's side control of the matchday seven fixture at Europa-Park-Stadion.
Late scare, late seal
Freiburg increased the pressure late in the game and pulled one back in the 82nd minute when Bayern midfielder Bischof scored into his own net, setting up a tense finish. Bayern settled it in the fifth minute of stoppage time, when Michael Olise finished a quick counter-attack to make it 3-1 and end any doubt about the result.
Top on goal difference
The win takes Bayern to 17 points and, on goal difference, above Borussia Dortmund, who also have 17 points after their own weekend win. Freiburg remain third with 13 points despite the defeat, after a strong start to the season, and Bayern now head into next week's showdown with Dortmund as league leaders.
